Experience, Community & a Voice for You

I’m Natalie Leary, and I’m running to represent you on the Waimakariri District Council for the Kaiapoi-Woodend Ward and on the Kaiapoi-Tuahiwi Community Board. I’ve lived in Kaiapoi for most of my life, raising my family here and watching our community grow and thrive. This is my home, and I’m deeply passionate about its future and the people who live here.

With decades of experience in our community—from local sports clubs and schools to long-standing local businesses—I’ve developed a strong understanding of what matters to us. I’m ready and very able to be your voice on the council.

I believe in a council that listens, acts, and truly represents its community.

My Priorities for the Kaipoi-Woodend Ward

As your representative, my commitment is to deliver on the issues that matter most to you. My key policies are:

Affordable Rates

Working towards practical solutions that keep our rates fair and manageable for all residents.

Better Road Infrastructure:

Advocating for improved road maintenance and development to ensure safer and more efficient travel throughout the ward.

Transparency & Listening to the People

Ensuring the council is more open and accountable, and that residents’ voices are not only heard but acted upon.

Bringing More Businesses into the Community

Creating an environment that attracts new businesses and supports our existing ones to help our local economy prosper.

Better Water Quality:

Championing initiatives that protect and improve our local water sources for the health and well-being of our community.

Why I'm Ready to Represent You

A Deep-Rooted Local

  • As a long-time resident, I understand the unique character and needs of the Kaiapoi-Woodend Ward. I’ve been a part of this community’s story for decades.

Proven Leadership

  • I’ve spent years in management roles at local businesses like Woolworths and Hellers, where I was responsible for leading teams and managing operations.

Community Builder

Dedicated to Our Heritage

  • I have a strong connection to local culture and education, having taught Te Reo Māori at Kaiapoi schools and at the Kohanga Reo, Te Whetu O Te Ora. I’m also a trustee of the Kaiapoi Food Forest, helping introduce a Māori medicines and herbs area.
I am committed to putting my skills, experience, and love for our community to work for you
